Welcome to the Department of Practical Computation!
What is "practical computation?" Computer education seems to be
split between two different camps: Computer Science, which studies the
nature of computation and the math behind it with only a passing regard
for practical applications; and Information Technology, which teaches
the skills needed to actually operate computers and networks with little
emphasis on the underlying algorithms and theory. What we aim to do is
somewhere in the middle — we want to explore the application of
theory and math toward practical solutions so that people can get things
done
and understand why it works.
Currently, we have a
blog, but in the future we
plan on adding proper tutorials and references.
